Staff Notes
Laura Reiner, Reference Librarian/Digital Reference Services Coordinator

In November, Kelsey Libner joined us as Web Services Developer. Prior to coming to the Brandeis University Libraries, Kelsey was a Libraries Fellow at North Carolina State University Libraries in Raleigh, NC. He has an M.S.I. (Library and Information Services) from the University of Michigan School of Information, an M.S. in Psychology from the University of Oregon, and a B.A. from Yale University.

Sadly, November also saw the departure of Steve Butzel, able Archives Assistant, who recently received his Master's of Library & Information Science from Simmons College and has taken a position as Reference Librarian at the Nashua Public Library in New Hampshire. We wish him all the best in his new endeavor.

In a fetching yet seasonally appropriate ensemble of mukluks and parka, Susan Pyzynski, Librarian for Digital Initiatives and Special Collections, presented and facilitated at a TEI (Text Encoding Initiative) Workshop at Wheaton College in January. There, she held forth on the relationship between TEI and EAD (Encoded Archival Description).

Darwin Scott, Creative Arts Librarian, coauthored a review of the Naxos Music Library in the December 2004 issue of Notes: Quarterly Journal of the Music Library Association. In February, he attended the annual meeting of the Music Library Association in Vancouver, BC, where he participated in two panel sessions: "Reviews of Digital Audio Vendor Products: Naxos and the Classical Music Library" and "Collection Development and Assessment."

Ann Frenkel, Assistant University Librarian for Public Services, has just had five translations of poems from Polish published by two journals: Circumference (Issue 3, 2005) and Perihelion (Volume IV, 2005). Ann publishes literary translations together with her husband under the name Frank L. Vigoda.

"A Conversation with Miriam Gideon (1906-1996): Sunday, June 19, 1977," an article by Judith Shira Pinnolis, Reference Librarian, has just been published in the latest issue of Musica Judaica (vol. 17, 2003-2004).
