Voicemail Prompts and Commands



Verbal prompts lead you through the voicemail options and tell you what keys to press for specific functions. Voicemail options and functions are organized into a series of single- and double-digit commands. These commands allow voicemail subscribers to access voicemail features and functions.

When at the main menu:

  • Press 1 to hear new messages.
  • Press 2 to send a message.
  • Press 3-1 to review saved messages.
  • Press 3-2 to review/restore deleted messages.
  • Press 4 to change setup options.
  • Press 4-1-1 to change greetings.
  • Press 4-1-2 to turn on/off an alternate greeting.
  • Press 4-2-3 to choose full or brief menus.
  • Press 4-3-1 to change your Unity password.
  • Press 4-3-2 to change your recorded name.


While listening to a new or saved message:

  • Press 1 to restart the message.
  • Press 2, #2 to save the message.
  • Press 3, #3 to delete the message.
  • Press 4 to slow playback.
  • Press #4 to skip and reply to subscriber.
  • Press #42 to skip and reply to all subscribers.
  • Press #44 to skip and call subscriber.
  • Press #5 to skip and forward message.
  • Press 6 for fast playback.
  • Press #6 to skip and save as new.
  • Press 7 to rewind the message (5 seconds).
  • Press 8 to pause /resume.
  • Press 9 to fast-forward (5 seconds).
  • Press #9 to skip and play message properties.
  • Press # to fast-forward to the end.
  • Press ## to save as is.


While listening to a deleted message:

  • Press 1 to restart the message.
  • Press 2, #2 to restore as saved.
  • Press 3, #3 to delete the message.
  • Press 4 to reply to message.
  • Press 5, #5 to skip and forward message.
  • Press 6 to restore as new.
  • Press 7 to rewind the message (5 seconds).
  • Press 8 to pause /resume.
  • Press 9 for message properties.
  • Press # to fast-forward to the end.
  • Press ## to save as is.


After listening to a message:

  • Press 1 to replay the message.
  • Press 2 to save.
  • Press 3 to delete.
  • Press 4 to reply.
  • Press 42 to reply to all.
  • Press 44 to call the subscriber.
  • Press 5 to forward the message.
  • Press 6 to save message as new.
  • Press 7 to rewind the message (5 seconds).
  • Press 9 to play the message properties.
  • Press # to save as is.


Sending Messages



After logging into voicemail, you may record and send messages to other voicemail users and your private lists.

  1. Press 2. The system will prompt you to enter either an extension number or the spelling of a last name.
  2. Press ## to switch between spelling mode and number mode or enter the number of a private list and press #.
  3. Press # 1 to add other names or private lists.
  4. Press # after the last entry.
  5. Press 3 for Message Options.
    • Press 1 to change address
    • Press 2 change recording
    • Press 3 for special delivery
    • Press 4 to review message
    • Press # to send message
    • Press * to exit and cancel
  6. Record your message.
  7. Press # to end recording.
  8. You will then be prompted with the Message Options in step 5 (Press # to Send Message)

Express Messaging



Express Messaging allows you to leave a message in someone's mailbox without rining his/her phone.

On-Campus

  1. Dial * + 7 + the 5-digit number.
  2. Wait for greeting and leave the message.

Off-Campus

  1. Dial 781-736-2222
  2. When you hear the greeting, enter the person's 5-digit number, then press # + 2 immediately after entering it.


Creating Private Distribution Lists



After logging into voicemail you may create private distribution lists. Private lists are used to send voice messages to multiple subscribers.

  1. Press 4-2-4.
  2. Press 0 for help in creating a list(s)
  3. Press 1 to hear your Private List, or press 2 to change the names on a private list.
  4. The system will prompt you to choose a list number from 1 to 20.
  5. After choosing a list number, you will hear a prompt to enter the extensions you want to add to your list.
    • Press 1 to add a name.
    • Press 2 to hear current names.
    • Press 3 to remove a name.
    • Press ## to switch between spelling mode and number mode.


Limits



Voicemail Configuration for Students:
Maximum voicemail storage limit 15 minutes
Number of days new messages are retained 30 days
Number of days saved messages are retained 7 days
Maximum personal greeting length 1 minute
Maximum message length 30 seconds
Minimum password length 5 digits




Voicemail Configuration for Faculty and Staff:
Maximum voicemail storage limit 25 minutes
Number of days new messages are retained 30 days
Number of days saved messages are retained 15 days
Maximum personal greeting length 2 minutes
Maximum message length 1 minute 30 seconds
Minimum password length 5 digits
