Long Distance Rates and Billing

Overview

The basic service includes your personal telephone number and voicemail box, free calls within our local calling area, and call waiting. There are no monthly fees, installation fees, or repair fees associated with your telephone service. PaeTec Communications will provide long distance telecommunications service. Each student/employee will receive a Personal Billing Number (PBN). PaeTec uses the PBN for all billing. Graduate students will need to contact PaeTec to sign up for the program.

Personal Billing Number (PBN)

Your PaeTec Personal Billing Number (PBN) gives you the freedom to place calls from anywhere on campus. By using your PBN, you (or your office) agree to pay for all calls placed with your PBN, whether or not you made them personally. Do not share your PBN with anyone. If your PBN is lost, or you suspect that it has been stolen, contact Paetec Customer Service immediately. PaeTec will disable your original PBN and a new PBN will be assigned.

Student Information

Upon arrival this fall you will receive a welcome package in your campus mailbox with detailed user instructions and a PBN to make calls from campus. Returning students will still be able to use the PBN number that they have already been assigned. Telephone bills are sent monthly via email. Online at https://www.campuslink.paetec.com, students will be able to set-up automatic bill paying, review bill details, and pay on-line with a credit card or debit card. Only long distance calls placed with PBNs will be billed.

Individualized Billing

Once a month, you will receive a detailed bill at the address provided to PaeTec. If your account balance is under $2.00 at the time your bill is processed, a bill will not be mailed to you. If your account balance remains under $2.00 at the end of each school year, a statement will be sent to your address. In addition, if PaeTec has your email address on file, you may receive an email notifying you of a current balance.

If you are assigned an Ebill only plan, you will not receive a paper bill. Instead you will receive an email identifying your current balance due. Please keep your email address information current with PaeTec.

To have your bill sent to a different location, please call PaeTec Customer Service or complete the address change information on the reverse side of the remitance slip you include with your payment. Please note that it may take up to two billing cycles for your address change to be completed.

Managing Your Calling Budget

A $150.00 credit limit has been automatically set to help you manage your calling budget. If you exceed your credit limit, your PBN may be automatically deactivated. Your PBN will be reinstated after payment is received. To lower your credit limit or for questions about how your credit limit works, contact PaeTec Customer Service. If your PBN is deactivated due to exceeding your credit limit, you are still responsible for any additional fees incurred, including any monthly service fees.

How to Pay Your Bill

If paying by check via phone, please have your financial institution's ABA routing number and your checking account number available. This information can be located on the bottom of your checks; please have your checks available for reference when contacting PaeTec's Customer Service representatives.

  • Check or Money Order

Include your 11-digit Account ID and return in the envelope provided.

  • Mail - Please allow 7-10 business days for your payment to be received:

Late Fees

  • Late Payment Fee: 30 days after invoicing, a 1.5% fee will be applied to all balances greater than $2.00.
  • Returned Check Fee: A $20.00 fee will be applied on your next bill.

Collections Policy

Know the status of your account at all times. If you have not received your current billing statement, it is your responsibility to contact PaeTec Customer Service to update your mailing information.

Should your account become more than 30 days past invoicing, you may be contacted by PaeTec's Collections Department. They may contact you by phone, email, or mail to remind you of the status of your account. Further collections activity will proceed as follows:

  • 60 days after invoicing, your PBN will be deactivated until payment in full is received.
  • 120 days after invoicing, your account will be reported to an outside collections agency, where it may begin to affect your credit.

Closing Your Account

PaeTec requires all subscribers to close their accounts and provide a forwarding address when they leave. This ensures that your PBN will be disabled. Until your account is closed, you are responsible for all calls placed with your PBN, as well as any other monthly service fees.

Faculty/Staff Information

All campus telephones and Personal Billing Numbers (PBN) are assigned to the PeopleSoft chargeline of the appropriate department or grant. Telephone reports are produced on a monthly basis for each department and grant. These reports include a detailed list of all external calls made by the phones or PBNs in the department, including the cost of each call. You must use a PBN to place a long-distance call. Local calls do not require a PBN, but they must be dialed as 1 + area code + number.

Domestic and International Rate Plans

Students receive special rates for all direct dial domestic calls placed using their PBN. Rate information is available online by logging into your account at http://www.campuslink.paetec.com or by contacting PaeTec Customer Service. Rates are subject to change at any time, with or without notification. To ensure that you have up-to-date rates, periodically check with their website.
