This page explains how to use your Cisco 7940 or 7960 telephone.
Useful features of the 7940 phone include:
• Two way speakerphone for hands-free conversations. Simply press the speakerphone button
in the lower right of the phone. Press the button again to end the call. At any time during the call you can pick up the handset for a more private conversation. This is also great for playing multiplayer games with the conference feature!
• Large LCD screen
with Caller ID. This screen displays incoming or outgoing call information, directory lookup and other phone based applications.
• With the touch of a button,
you can access the Brandeis Phone Directory. This convenient lookup allows you to search by first name, last name or extension to find and call people on campus.
• The 7940 has an easy to use adjustable base. You can set the angle of the phone so that the screen is easier to see because of optimized viewing angle.
• The ringers be set to a lower volume level than that of the 7912 phone.
Enables you to transfer any call to another extension within the Brandeis telephone system. To transfer a call:

Enables you to establish a 6-way conversation with individuals internal or external to the telephone system. To establish a conference call:

Call Pick-Up allows people in an office area to answer a call on an extension other than one on his/her own phone.
Temporarily redirects your incoming calls to another extension. To program the destination and activate forwarding:

Allows you to automatically dial frequently called numbers. You may access up to 99 numbers (either local, long distance, or on campus numbers) from a Fast Dial List.

Redials the most recently dialed number.
Allows you to place a call while the handset of your multiple line phone is still set in its cradle. This is the "speakerphone" feature.
If you want to mute the conversation in your office while using the speakerphone:

Enables you to place an exisitng call in a special holding status and then retrieve it from another telephone. To park a call:
Note: Parked calls will time out after 60 seconds. They will ring the phone and not forward to voicemail.
