It's often helpful to have a spyware scanner/removal tool installed on your computer. These tools are similar to antivirus software, except that they target software that is annoying rather than truly malicious. For help understanding what spyware is, please visit our Security Terms page.
LTS recommends Microsoft Defender, and also supports Ad-Aware SE and Spybot Search & Destroy. All three products are available free of charge. Please contact us if you need assistance installing.
You should never install any anti-spyware software except those mentioned above. Many so-called "anti-spyware" programs are themselves spyware, or contain actual viruses.
