What LTS Does to Protect You

LTS works actively with the entire Brandeis community to warn of new security risks and to help keep all computers secure.

Disconnecting Computers from the Network

LTS maintains multiple security monitoring and scanning tools that are constantly watching the Brandeis network for signs of virus activity. When these tools detect that a computer has been compromised or is missing critical security patches, that computer is removed from the network. While being disconnected in this way may be inconvenient, it is necessary to protect the integrity of the network and prevent your machine from attacking others or stealing your personal information.

You can prevent your computer from being disconnected from the network by being smart about your online behavior and keeping up to date on security patches. If your computer gets disconnected from the network, you will receive an email message letting you know what the specific problem is and how to resolve it.

Email Containing Viruses

The main campus email system frequently refuses messages containing viruses. In addition, when the system accepts mail with potentially dangerous attachments, the files are automatically renamed to make them harmless.

If you think that legitimate messages to you are being rejected because of our virus filters, please contact postmaster@brandeis.edu immediately.
