Description of the Software

MATLAB, produced by MathWorks, is a high-level language and interactive environment that allows more rapid prototyping and programming of computational tasks than do traditional programming languages.

Join the Local User Group and Mailing List

Questions about the use of MATLAB should be directed to the Brandeis MATLAB User Group. If you would like to join this group, email user group coordinator Steve Karel at karel@brandeis.edu.

Ask to join the Brandeis MATLAB User Group mailing list:

  1. Click on the following link: https://lists.brandeis.edu/wws/subrequest/matlab-users
  2. Brandeis community members: enter your UNet ID in the email address field, hit submit, and enter your UNet password in the subsequent password field.
  3. Off campus users: enter your email address in the email address field and hit submit.
  4. Your request to join will be forwarded to the MATLAB User Group coordinator and an email will be sent to you when you are added to the list.

How to Acquire MATLAB

For teaching purposes, you may use installations of MATLAB in computer labs and clusters on the Brandeis campus; email clusters@brandeis.edu for details.

For research purposes, you can either buy your own licenses directly from the MathWorks, or you may wish to consider joining the informal 
license pool owned by groups within Biology, Biochemistry, Psychology, Physics, Chemistry, and the Heller School, which may be a
