Information for Mailing List Subscribers
How to Join a Public Mailing List
- Login to http://lists.brandeis.edu
- From the top menu, click on "Help", then "Public Lists".
- Click on the list to which you wish to subscribe.
- Click on the "Subscribe" button on the left hand side of the page.
How to Join a Private Mailing List
- Visit http://lists.brandeis.edu in order to search for the name of the list you'd like to join.
- Click on the list name to determine the name of the list administrator.
- You can contact the list administrator and have him/her add you to the list.
OR via email
Send an email to sympa@lists.brandeis.edu In the message body, type "SUBSCRIBE" in all capital letters; then leave a space, and type the list name to which you wish to subscribe. (ex. SUBSCRIBE name@lists.brandeis.edu)
How to Remove Yourself from a List
- Login to http://lists.brandeis.edu
- From the top menu, click on "Your Subscriptions".
- Click on the list from which you would like to remove yourself.
- From the left side menu, click on "Unsubscribe".
How to Post Messages to a Discussion List
- Login to http://lists.brandeis.edu
- From the top menu, click on "Your Subscriptions".
- Click on the list to which you would like to post a message.
- From the left side menu, click on "Post".
- You will then have the ability to type and send a message using the online interface.

Send an email to the email address for the list (ex: name@lists.brandeis.edu)
Email aliases and posting
If you have an email alias for your Brandeis account and are added as a list administrator or subscriber with this address, you must also login with the alias in order to access the list at http://lists.brandeis.edu.
An example: Your UNet ID is joeschmoe@brandeis.edu, and you also receive email sent to the alias schmoe@brandeis.edu. A friend adds you as a subscriber to a discussion mailing list with schmoe@brandeis.edu. In order to send and receive messages from the list, you must login with that address.
To create an email alias or to find out whether you have one, login to https://unet.brandeis.edu/cgi-bin/login/mail using your UNet ID and password.
