Brandeis Directory and Mac OS X Mail




This document will guide you through configuring OS X Mail to use the Brandeis directory. You must be connected to the campus network to use the directory in this way. Off-campus use is not currently supported.

Configuring OS X Mail

Step 1

  • Before you begin, it is important that you have the latest version of OS X Mail installed on your computer.
  • Open the Apple menu at the top left corner of the screen, and click Software Update.
  • After Software Update is done checking for updates, click Install Items.
  • Wait for the software to finish installing, and restart the computer if prompted to do so.

Step 2

  • Open the Mail menu and click Preferences.
  • Click the Composing icon.
  • Click the Configure LDAP button.

Step 3

  • Click the + button.

Step 4

  • Next to Name, enter Brandeis Directory.
  • Next to Server, enter ldap.unet.brandeis.edu.
  • Next to Search Base, enter o=Brandeis University.
  • Click the Save button.
