Group directories are available for student clubs and other organizations that are run by users. Undergraduate clubs must be recognized on the myBrandeis Club Center before Web space is granted.
To request a club directory, visit https://unet.brandeis.edu/groups/. All members with write privileges must have UNet accounts. It normally takes about one week for a group to be approved and created.
Like your personal web space, your group’s website will be located at http://www.brandeis.edu/~groupname.
To add, edit, and access your group’s files, you must have permission to do so. For more information on permissions and how they are obtained, see the Club Administration Guide.
You can connect to your club Web space in the same way you can connect to your UNet space.
Follow these instructions, but type in \\unethome\groups\clubname where clubname is your club’s name.
Use SSH Secure Shell and connect to your UNet space. Change the directory to /usr/groups/clubname/WWW where clubname is your club’s name.
Connect to server the same way as connecting to your UNet space, but type in smb://unethome.brandeis.edu/groups/clubname where clubname is your club’s name.
Connect to your UNet space using an SFTP client. change the directory to /usr/groups/clubname/WWW where clubname is your club’s name.
Once you are connected you can add, delete and edit the files on your site. You will most likely want to make a copy of a file locally on your computer, edit it, then upload it (replacing the old copy).
You can edit the HTML source code of a page using an and text-based editor. You can also used a Web editing program, such as Adobe GoLive, which is available in the public computer clusters.
