In this example the attackers are trying to trick victims into disclosing their password to the website LinkedIn. This example still has some red flags:

  • The message states that a new account was created. Since you didn't create an account yourself this is unexpected.
  • The message is addresses to a mailing list not an individual.
  • The link leads to a website hosted outside of linkedin.com.
  • Punctuation and grammar mistakes appear in the message.
