Mac OS X Security Checklist

Please ensure that your Mac OS X computer meets as many of these items as possible:

Automatic Updates

Automatic updates can go a long way to keeping malware out of your computer. Please enable automatic updates and restart your computer when asked.

Strong Passwords

Using a strong password makes it more difficult for somebody to illegitimately gain access, whether physically sitting in front of your computer or from across the world.

Password-Protected Screensaver

Setting a screensaver to activate and lock the screen after a short amount of time can prevent most would-be attackers from casually gaining access to your computer. Whenever you leave your computer, press Option (⌥) + Command (⌘) + Eject (⏏) to lock your screen.
