Who Can Open a UNet Account?

There are two different kinds of UNet accounts – one for students, faculty, and staff, and one for other members of the extended Brandeis community.

Regular UNet Accounts

If you are a Brandeis student, employee, or faculty member, or otherwise affiliated with Brandeis (see Sponsored Accounts below), you are eligible for a UNet account. This account gives you access to email (@brandeis.edu), file service, personal web page publishing, and authorization for network services. Go to the UNet web site at https://unet.brandeis.edu/ to obtain a UNet account and email address.

New graduate and undergraduate students will receive account activation instructions from the admissions department in the mail.

Group accounts are not supported. Student organizations, see https://unet.brandeis.edu/groups/. Administrative departments, use mailing lists, aliases, or see http://courier.brandeis.edu/doc.html. For help with alternatives, contact the Help Desk.

Sponsored UNet Accounts

Opening a sponsored account begins exactly the same way at https://unet.brandeis.edu/.  Step by step instructions with screen shots are available here.

If the UNet account registration process does not recognize you as a current student, staff, or faculty affiliate, you can open a sponsored account.  This process will be required for visiting researchers, contractors, etc. not on the Brandeis payroll, and may also be required for regular staff who have not been entered into the system yet. Confirm with your supervisor or other Brandeis contact that they will agree to sponsor an account for you. Then return to https://unet.brandeis.edu/accounts/, fill out the form, and click the button labeled "Request Help From a Human Being." This will bring you to another form. Provide your affiliation and personal information (birthdate is requested solely to help find matches in HR and student databases) and submit the form. You and your sponsor will receive an email message when an administrator has acted on your request.

All sponsored accounts are pre-expired (default expiration date is six months) but may be renewed upon request.
