Welcome to the Telephone page! Brandeis provides staff and students living on campus with a Cisco Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) telephone, voicemail, and local dialing. The Brandeis telephone is the only type that will work on our systems. Please do not bring a telephone from home. Long-distance and international dialing can be accomplished using a Personal Billing Number (PBN) provided. Brandeis does not provide cellular phone service, but does offer recommendations on phones and service providers

While many parents assume that their cellphone carrier provides equal service at Brandeis, this isn't necessarily the case. Since the phone service you have when you come to campus is typically the same when you leave, it's best to make an educated decision about services. This issue isn't the only one to consider when choosing a carrier, but it's often neglected. Brandeis does not have an official cellphone carrier, but we do provide advice on selecting one in the area.
Brandeis offers VOIP telephones to all students, faculty, and staff. With these phones, you can contact anybody else's phone while on campus and even call off campus. Unlike standard phones, your phone will keep its number the same no matter where you plug it in. All power comes from the ethernet port; no power adapters necessary. All the materials will be provided to students when they first come to campus.
