Setting up your Smartphone with Google Apps

• Google Sync
  • Set up Google Sync to sync your Google Calendar and Gmail to your mobile device
    • iPhone/iPad (domain name is brandeis.edu)
    • Nokia/Symbian
    • Windows Mobile
• Gmail in the browser
  • Go to go.brandeis.edu/gmail in the web browser on your mobile device.
• Google Calendar in the browser
  • Go to go.brandeis.edu/cal in the web browser on your mobile device.
  • Directions specific to your phone
• CalDAV
  • Set up CalDAV to sync your Google Calendar with your Apple device (iPhone, iPad, iPod Touch).
• Texting options
  • Get calendar notifications via text message (SMS).
  • Check your calendar and create events via text message (SMS).

Android

1. Go to Settings
2. Choose Accounts
3. Select Add Account
4. Select Google
5. Click Next
6. Select Sign in under Already have a Google Account
7. Input your Brandeis email address and password
8. Select Sign in
9. Enable which Google services you want to sync (ie: Gmail, Contacts, and Docs)
10. Click Finish and on the next page, click on Finish Setup

BlackBerry

For new Blackberry devices please follow the instructions below.

Note: The Blackberry Sync Application is no longer supported by Google. Please remove the Google Sync App by selecting the icon, pressing the menu button, and choosing Delete.

1. On your Blackberry device, navigate to your home screen
2. Select the icon that lets you set up email (This can be called Setup, Setup Wizard, Email Setup, BlackBerry Set-up, Email Settings, or Personal Email Set-up)
3. Select new Gmail Account
4. Enter your full @brandeis.edu address in the username field and enter your Brandeis password
5. At the next screen check off "Calendar" and "Contacts" sync if you would like to sync them to your device
6. Select Close
