Connecting on Campus to the Wired Network

Connecting a computer (and, possibly, a phone) to the Brandeis network involves two simple steps:  plugging everything in and registering the computer on the network.

Plugging in your phone and computer

  1. Plug an ethernet cable into the wall jack.  (Which wall jack?)
  2. Plug the other end of that cable into the phone's "100/10 SW" port.
  3. Plug the second ethernet cable into the phone's "100/10 PC" port.
  4. Plug the other end of the second cable into the ethernet port of the computer.
To plug in a computer without a phone, or a phone without a computer, simply connect one end of the ethernet cable to the wall jack, and the other end to the ethernet port on your computer or telephone.

Registering your computer on the network

You must register your computer on the Brandeis network to gain full access to the Internet.  To register, open a web browser (preferably Internet Explorer or Safari) and you should be automatically taken to the network registration page.  If you are not automatically redirected, type unet.brandeis.edu/norm into your browser's URL bar and hit enter.  From there, follow the on-screen instructions.
