This is between you and your Internet Service Provider (ISP). You'll need to enter a contract with an ISP, obtain equipment from them (such as a cable modem or DSL modem) and follow their instructions, with help from their tech support department if needed. There are lots of good ISP's out there. Here are a few we suggest:
Wormhole is a tool that allows you to securely access resources on the Brandeis network when you are off campus. With Wormhole you can connect to your UNet filespace and the Omega fileserver, browse certain websites otherwise restricted to on campus use such as BUSS, and even connect to your office computer from home. Special software is not required for Wormhole; it works through your web browser. To log in to Wormhole, visit https://wormhole.brandeis.edu. For more information, click here.
LTS supports Remote Desktop Connection (RDC), a protocol that allows you to remotely connect to your Brandeis computer via the SSL VPN RDC client. Windows XP users should follow these instructions to connect to a computer using RDC. Mac users should follow these instructions to connect to a computer using RDC. Due to security concerns we require that you have windows firewall turned on and set to block unrestricted access. RDC from off-campus is only permitted using the SSL VPN.
The SSL VPN can be used from off-campus to access files stored in your UNet space or other shared folders on omega. You can create files and save them on the server, and you can view or edit existing files. Click this link for instructions.
