E-mail is the basic form of Internet communication, allowing you to send everything from a quick note to large files to individuals or multiple parties, quickly and easily. Brandeis provides an e-mail service called Bmail (for "Brandeis e-mail") to all students, faculty, and staff. Remember that by using your Brandeis e-mail account you agree to and are bound by our terms of use agreement. Violations of the agreement could result in loss of e-mail privileges or disciplinary action. Sending abusive or threatening e-mail can even result in criminal charges against the sender.
Bmail is a web-based e-mail service, so you can access your Bmail account from any computer with an Internet connection and a browser at http://bmail.brandeis.edu.
Users familiar with Yahoo!Mail or Gmail should be able to use Bmail without much difficulty, but Bmail has a lot to offer. We suggest you read our Bmail documentation to learn more about all of Bmail's features.
In order to utilize some of the features of Bmail, you'll need to be able to locate where your messages are saved on the Brandeis servers. See this page for detailed instructions.
In addition to the web client, you can also access your e-mail using a program resident on your computer, such as Mail on a Macintosh or Mozilla's Thunderbird. If you choose to store your received and sent e-mail locally, you will only be able to access messages sent or downloaded on that one particular computer. In order to download messages and use Brandeis' email server, you'll need to configure the client on your computer.
For specific instructions, select your e-mail program on this page.
