* Please note that on Mozilla-based browsers (e.g., Mozilla Firefox 1.x, Mozilla Suite 1.x, Netscape Navigator 7.x/8.x, and Mac's Safari 1.x/2.x) the HTML Creator toggle on/off button does not appear, meaning that you cannot use the HTML editor with these browsers. More information is available from this WebCT discussion board.

To turn on the HTML creator, click the radio button in the field "HTML Creator" from "Off" to "On."*

Once activated, the Java applet will load, and you will see an interface that looks like this:

The buttons and dropdowns that are presented on this screen match most word-processing programs, such as Microsoft's Word. Here's a quick overview:
