Reserves - For Instructors

Library reserves:

We encourage instructors to place required readings on reserve to ensure equal access to all students. Please take the time to review our procedures and copyright guidelines.

Who may submit reserve lists:

  • Our services are offered to any faculty, staff, or teaching assistants affiliated with Brandeis University. While the Reserve Services maintains our collection primarily for the graduate and undergraduate college of arts and sciences, we extend our services to other departments such as the Brandeis Adult Learning Institute and the Continuing Studies Department.
  • Reserve readings for math and science courses are housed at the Gerstenzang Science Library.

How to submit a reserve list:

  • Submit a reserve list in person at the library's Loans and Returns desk by downloading and completing the paper forms (PDF format).
  • Email list using LOUIS this library catalog
  • Email list to the Reserves Department
  • In your LATTE course, select "Place Books on Reserve."

Presenting course materials electronically in LATTE:

  • Journal articles accessable online to the Brandeis University community can be shared with students by linking the journal article within a LATTE course. Here are instructions for linking to articles available through our online databases.
  • You can upload and store electronic files to your LATTE courses, including reprints and pictures. Here are instructions for working with your files in LATTE.
  • Audio (language lessons, music files, etc.) and video (movies, documentaries, etc.) can be digitized and shared with students in your LATTE course. In order to guarantee these will be available for your course, contact Research & Instruction Services ris@brandeis.edu to request materials at least two months prior to the start of the semester.
