This page explains how to use the audiovisual equipment in Shiffman 120.
Security is everyone's concern! Please make sure to lock up the devices when you are finished.
The combination to the rack padlock will be given to you before the beginning of the semester. If you have forgotten the combination or would like to receive it sooner, please contact Media Services at x64429 for the combination.
Set the numbers and then push the lock IN, as if you were trying to close the lock. It will "pop" open.
To the left of the blackboard (on the wall) is a white keypad. Use this to operate the projector.
After pressing the "ON" button you must give the projector a moment to warm up. Once it warms up, an image will begin to appear on the screen. The current input will be displayed in the corner of this image.
A button labeled "INPUT" on the white keypad allows you to cycle through the available inputs of the projector. Select "VID" for video projecting using either the DVD or VCR players. Select "Computer 1" for laptop projection.
Inside the rack is a small AV Switcher with several labeled buttons. These buttons are: VCR, DVD, and LAPTOP. Select the button for the device you would like to use for your class.
Audio is controlled by the two large knobs labeled "Left speaker" and "Right speaker."
No sound? Check to make sure that the power button on this unit is ON.
Laptop connections are provided via a black VGA cable (which projects your laptop's screen) with a red audio cable attached.
