The iPod Revolution

Since the introduction of the iPod, this small white device has made a large impact on education, music, and pop culture. Here we explore the ways in which the iPod has changed our lives and how we have adpated the iPod to our lives.

Duke Univeresity initially distributed Apple iPods to all incoming first-year students in the Fall of 2004, as part of an initiative to encourage creative uses of technology in education and campus life. This initiative has now expanded to include not only digital audio but images, video, the use of tablet pcs, and collaboration technologies. See the list of courses using iPods this academic year. Duke also developed an extentive iPod support page.

Georgia College and State University has created an excellent site that explores the possibilities of iPod use in education. See their iDreamers page for lots of good ideas.

Also see Drexel University's PodPage. Drexel gave out iPods to Masters students in the Education department. They also and offer iPods in Education Grants for faculty interested in exploring the use of iPods and Podcasting in education.
