Recording with your iPod and iTalk
To record a voice memo:- Connect your iTalk to the headphones port on your iPod.
- Make sure that hold switch on the top of the iPod is not in the hold position.
- If you are using a case for your iPod you may have to partially remove the case so that the iTalk can be plugged in. The iTalk should click when it is properly connected.
- When you plug in the iTalk you will be taken to the Voice Memo screen.
- To begin recording, select Record.
- To pause, press play/pause on the click wheel.
- To resume recording, select Resume.
- To stop a recording, select Stop and Save. The recordings are saved as .wav files and named with the date and time of the recording.
- Connect your iPod to your computer, iTunes will open and Voice Memos will appear in the source list as a separate playlist. (left hand pane)
- Create a folder on your hard drive to archive your Voice Memos to your local computer.
- Choose the Voice Memo playlist and drag your Voice Memos to your local folder. We recommend keeping an archival copy of your voice memos since there is a limit to the number of times you can copy a file from iTunes.
- In iTunes choose your Voice Memos playlist.
- Click on the file you wish to convert.
- Right Click to choose, Get Info. Choose the info tab to rename your file and add title, author, etc. Or, alternatively, choose Advanced from the menu bar.
- Right click to choose, Convert Selection to MP3.
- This will create a second copy of your file. iTunes places the mp3 in your library.
