Using Your iPod as an External Hard Disk

First, you must enable the the following setting in order to use your iPod as an external hard disk:
  1. Connect your ipod and open iTunes.
  2. Select your ipod in the source list (left hand side window in iTunes)
  3. In the lower-right corner of the iTunes window, click the iPod options button.
  4. In the window that appears, make sure that the checkbox called "Enable disk use" is checked.
  5. Quit iTunes.
You will notice that your ipod appears as a drive in "My Computer" if you are using a PC. If you are using a Mac, your ipod will appear as a drive on your desktop. You may now drag and drop files to your ipod as you would to any disk drive.

You must eject your ipod from your computer before disconnecting it. If you are using a PC, right-click on the drive icon and select "Eject". If you are using a Mac, simply drag the drive icon to the trash. On PC or Mac, you may also eject your ipod by using the eject button in iTunes.
