Getting Started with Your iPod on a PC


I. Downloading and Installing iTunes

If you know that you already have the most recent version of iTunes on your computer, you can skip to section III.
  1. Go to http://www.apple.com/itunes/download/ and download the iTunes installer.
  2. Run the installer and follow the onscreen instructions.
  3. You do not need to change any of the settings.
II. Opening iTunes for the First Time
  1. When opening iTunes for the first time, you will taken through several setup screens.
  2. Accept the License Agreement.
  3. Leave checked Add MP3 and AAC files and Add WMA files.
  4. Leave selected No, I will change the file and folder names myself.
  5. Select No, take me to my iTunes Library.
III. Syncing Your iPod with Your Music Library
  1. Connect the iPod to your computer.
  2. Wait for the iPod to be recognized by the computer.
  3. You will be prompted to reboot your computer. Click Yes to do so.
  4. After your computer has restarted, iTunes will launch automatically.
  5. You will see message informing you that the iPod is linked to another music library and asking if you would like to overwrite file on the iPod. Select Yes.
  6. Your audio files will now be downloaded to your iPod.
  7. When the downloading is complete, iTunes will indicate that you can disconnect your iPod. Your music is now ready for enjoyment on the go.
