What is an iPod?

An iPod is a portable digital device produced by Apple and designed primarily to store and playback audio files such as MP3's. Some of the most current iPods can display images on a color screen and are able to store any type of file.

What is an iTalk?

iTalk is a device manufactured by Griffin Technolgy for use with Apple's iPod. The iTalk attaches to the top of an iPod and allows the user to record files onto the iPod which can be later downloaded and edited on a computer.

What is a blog?

Blog, short for weblog, is a web-based application for easy publishing. Originally used primarily as online diaries, blogs now function more like online periodicals with user community commentary.

What is a feed (RSS & Atom)?

RSS and Atom feeds allow you to subscribe to websites that typically change or add content regularly. To use this technology you need to set up some type of aggregation service. Think of this aggregation service as your personal mailbox. You can then subscribe to the sites for which you want to receive updates. Feeds typically only give a line or two of each article or post but include a link to the full article or post.

What is podcasting?

Podcasting is a method of publishing audio broadcasts via the Internet, allowing users to subscribe to a feed of new files (usually MP3's). It became popular in late 2004, largely due to automatic downloading of audio onto portable players or personal computers.

Podcasting is distinct from other types of online media delivery because of its subscription model, which uses a feed (such as RSS or Atom) to deliver an enclosed file. Podcasting enables independent producers to create self-published, syndicated "radio shows," and gives broadcast radio programs a new distribution method. Listeners may subscribe to feeds using "podcatching" software (iTunes, for example), which periodically checks for and downloads new content automatically. iTunes is also able to synchronise (copy) podcasts to an iPod. Any digital audio player or computer with audio-playing software can play podcasts. The same technique can also deliver video files or images.
