Installing EndNote

Advisories: 

  • EndNote 8.0 and higher are not compatible with earlier versions.
    The program has many new advanced features. However it can not read older versions unless you convert the old library into an EndNote X1 version. Earlier versions of EndNote will not be able to read version 8 and up. Please keep this in mind when you upgrade or share a library.
    If you have an earlier version of EndNote Technical support recommends uninstalling EndNote prior to installing X1
  • If you don't uninstall EndNote you may need to adjust the settings so that EndNote looks in the most current filter and connnection folders in c:// Program Files/ EndNote X1
  • Offcampus installation: You will be prompted to authenticate with your UNet ID and password.
  • Brandeis has updated the catalog and submitted a new connection file to EndNote. The updated file to download is Brandeis U
  • The Brandeis EndNote site license: covers all faculty, staff and students, for use on campus and at home.

Windows Download and Installation for EndNote X1


Step 1 Download the file. Off-campus users will need to use wormhole to visit software.brandeis.edu manually.

Step 2 "Save file" and then open from your desktop.

Step 3 Clicking "Open" will open the install wizard

Step 4 When the installation is finished you should find the EndNote program in the "Start" menu under "Programs"

MAC OSX Download and Installation for EndNote X1

Step 1 Download the file. Off-campus users will need to use wormhole to visit software.brandeis.edu manually.

Step 2 Choose Save to disk and click OK.

Step 3 Click on EndNote Icon on your desktop and drag it to the Applications folder
