Lockers and Carrels
The Goldfarb Library has a limited number of lockers, which undergraduate and graduate students may apply for in person at the Loans & Returns desk. There are also has a small number of carrels available to graduate students and undergraduates writing a Senior Honors thesis. If all lockers and carrels have been assigned then interested parties may put their name on a waiting list.
Terms governing use of lockers and carrels
- All library materials kept in the locker/carrel must be properly charged out at the Loans & Returns desk. A fine of $5.00 for each uncharged item will be placed on your library account and the item(s) removed from the locker/carrel.
- Books stamped "not for circulation," Reference books and periodicals may not be kept in a locker/carrel. A fine of $5.00 per item will be placed on your library account and the item removed from the locker/carrel.
- Any overdue books in your locker/carrel may be removed from the locker/carrel and discharged from your library account.
- Staff will remove and dispose of any food or beverages found in your locker/carrel.
- The locker/carrel contract must be renewed by its date of expiration. If the contract is not renewed on time, the lock will be changed, a $7.50 key replacement charge levied against your account and the locker/carrel will be reassigned.
- If a locker/carrel is seldom used by the assignee, the Library reserves the right to recall the key and assign the space to another person.
- No deposit is required at the time the contract is signed; however, a $7.50 replacement charge will be assessed for a lost key.
- The Library reserves the right to alter or amend locker/carrel assignments, and will try to provide adequate notice of any such changes.
- Carrels and lockers are periodically inspected to ensure that the terms of this contract are not being violated. Fines are imposed upon those who have violated these said terms. Two violations will result in the loss of a locker/carrel.
