Cooperative Borrowing Programs
Boston Library Consortium
The Boston Library Consortium (BLC) is comprised of 20 academic and research institutions in the greater Boston and New England area, including western Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, and Rhode Island.
As a member of the Boston Library Consortium, Brandeis University students, faculty, and staff may access and borrow books and other materials from BLC institutions as long as they present an active BLC borrowing card and a Brandeis ID.
Obtaining a BLC card
- Students and faculty can apply for a BLC card at the InfoPoint in Goldfarb Main Library.
- BLC cards are valid for one academic year (faculty) or one semester (students & staff). All users must reapply for a new card at the start of each academic year.
Finding materials in BLC libraries
- Click here to access the online catalogs of the BLC member libraries.
- Check WorldCat to see which libraries in Massachusetts and beyond own an item, keeping in mind which libraries are members of the BLC (click here for list). Note: to see the holding libraries in WorldCat, open the full bibliographic record for the desired item and click on "Libraries worldwide that own item." Massachusetts libraries (several of them BLC members) are the default display. To see the full list of libraries (including BLC members outside of Massachusetts), click on "Display All Libraries."
