Locating a Book in the Library
- Search the online catalog, LOUIS, to find citations and call numbers to most of the books owned by Brandeis.
- Be aware that books provide a detailed analysis of a particular subject, but may not be the most up to date source for the most current topics.
- Books are housed in the Main and Science Libraries. All books are shelved by Library of Congress call number, except for U.S. Government Documents.
- Most books can be found in the stacks (bookshelves) and can be checked out at the Circulation Desk.
- Rare books from the Special Collections Department (on Goldfarb 2), bound volumes of journals, and Reference books from the Reference area, are available for in-library use only.
- The Main Library has a new books area on Goldfarb Level 1.
Science, Creative Arts, and Judaica also have their own new-books shelves.
- Maps of the libraries, indicating call number locations, are also available in print at the Information Deskof each library.
- To find books that Brandeis doesn't own, search for your topic in WorldCat (Brandeis users only).
