The Autograph collection contains a stunning assortment of rare autograph documents, which range in date from the early seventeenth century through the twentieth. Donated by different people and spanning five linear feet, this collection consists of a variety of material, from the historical documents and celebrity signatures acquired to build the collection to the personal correspondence between the donors and prominent figures, and sheds light on the reasons why people collect autographs as well as the importance of the handwritten word in many contexts.
