Description
By 1940 the full cost of appeasement was brought home to the democratic west. Hitler was master of the continent up to the frontiers of Russia, with Britain itself threatened by the blitz and invasion. It was then that the country turned to Winston Churchill, the man of destiny, who had continuously warned the West against the apostles of destruction. This chapter is a review of Churchill's extraordinary leadership which made his eloquence prophetic, that "if the Commonwealth were to last for a thousand years, men would say this was their finest hour."
