Biography
Born in Chicago, Professor John Bush Jones received his
undergraduate degree in 1962 with Distinction from Northwestern
University in Speech (Theatre). In 1970 he received his Ph.D.,
also from Northwestern. Before coming to Brandeis, Jones taught
English at the University of Kansas. In 1978, he joined Brandeis
University as a member of the Theater Arts Department. He received
the Louis Dembitz Brandeis Prize for Excellence in Teaching for the
1995-1996 school year. While at Brandeis, Jones directed numerous
plays, including "Ruddigore," "Uncommon Women and Others," and "She
Loves Me." He also participated actively in the Kennedy Center
American College Theater Festival, serving for several years on its
committee, and for two years directing the Region 1 Festival. Jones
is also the author of many articles, published in various literary
journals. John Bush Jones retired from Brandeis in the Spring of
2001.

The files in this collection were created from 1967
to 1999. Items in the collections include newspaper clippings,
correspondence, theater festival production papers, publications,
and theater posters. All of the documents are related to his
professional career.
