Reserves FAQ for Students

What is on Reserve for my class?

Students who have required readings or movies on Reserve may find out by searching for them in the LOUIS Course Reserves Catalog.

When are Reserve items due?

Most items can be used in the library for two hours, while other items can circulate outside of the library for one, two or seven days at a time.

Library owned reserve books go out of the library two hours before closing. This does not include reprints, personal copies, or videos.

Overnight returns are due:
Monday through Friday at 9:00 am
Saturday and Sunday at 11:30 am

Can I renew a reserve item?

There are no renewals for reserve books or personal materials. We ask students to wait 15 minutes to a half hour before trying to check out an item for a second time.

Will I be charged if I return a reserve item late?

Fines are $1.00 per hour so synchronize your watch with library time. Reserve overdue fines have no cap/limit. Please hand returns to the desk worker to ensure item is checked into system. If you would like to dispute a reserve fine, you may contact us at reserve@brandeis.edu 781-736-4630.

Who should I contact with further questions about reserves?
