This document applies only to faculty using videos as part of class-related instruction. It does not cover public displays not related to a specific course, any display to students or others not enrolled in the specific course, or non-academic use.
Faculty must comply with all applicable copyright laws. Faculty needing guidance on copyright issues should contact Sherry Keen, Associate Director for Resource Management and Budget (keen@brandeis.edu, x64642). Common limitations on the display of videos are:
Faculty may reserve classrooms through Janet Driscoll in the Registrar's Office, (jdriscoll@brandeis.edu, x62015). Library-owned videos may be checked out of the library by a faculty member or a proxy. Contact Reserve Services (reserve@brandeis.edu, x64630) to reserve a video in advance of the screening.
Instructors may reserve classrooms with built-in video projection through Janet Driscoll in the Registrar's office, (jdriscoll@brandeis.edu, x62015). Instructors may reserve Shiffman 219 for video screenings by completing the request form or contacting Media Technology Services at x64632. If requested, MTS can assist with the use of the projection equipment. Contact Reserve Services (reserve@brandeis.edu, x64630) to reserve a video in advance of the screening.
DVD, VHS and Blu-ray players are available in the Main Library. DVDs can be viewed on any computer. Headphones are available for check out at the Information & Borrowing Desk.
