February 2001, update of June 1988
Sherry Keen, Head, Acquisitions/Serials
The Education Program is designed to prepare undergraduates for teaching at all levels (preschool through secondary) and is taken in addition to the student's field of concentration. It is also valuable for those planning careers in related fields such as special education, counseling, clinical psychology and social work.
Education is also a major focal point of the Benjamin S. Hornstein Program in Jewish Communal Service.
The library does collect some materials on the social, ethical, cultural, legal, philosophical and historical aspects of education. Because of the close relationship between education, general intellect and cultural history, some materials on the history of education are also collected.
There is a separate Resource Center for teacher training, classroom and curriculum materials.
