II. Curriculum

The undergraduate concentration in the Economics department stresses analytic and quantitative approaches to the economy as a system as well as to specific subject areas and economic issues. By the completion of the concentration, students are expected to be familiar with the scholarship associated with a variety of economic subjects; readings center on readings written for the general economist. Undergraduates in Economics can apply for admission as "five year students" to the Lemberg Master's Program in International Economics and Finance thereby completing a bachelor's and master's degree in five years. Refer to the Graduate School of International Economics and Finance description.

III. Purpose and Scope of the Collection

The collection supports the research needs of the undergraduate concentration in Economics and the collection also serves many of the needs of the Graduate School of Economics and International Finance. The predominant collecting emphasis is on theoretical works and on application of theory to economic problem. Although Economics is primarily an undergraduate program, the collection aims to be sufficiently comprehensive for use by the five year combined bachelor's/master's program and the GSIEF program. Materials of an economic nature that would be of interest to History, Politics, Heller Graduate School and Sociology are also included. Areas of study include: economic development and industrial organization, technological change, international economics, business, macroeconomics, third world debt, Asian economics, international trade, and the environment. Electronic databases are important resources for Economics. The collection supports, in part, East Asian Studies and Environmental Studies
