Statement of Expectations

Student Assistants provide essential help in all departments of Liibrary and Technology Services (LTS). All of the work done for LTS supports research and learning activities of the entire Brandeis community. In order to provide the highest quality service to Brandeis faculty, staff and students, we expect our Student Assistants to:

  • Provide courteous and efficient service to LTS users;
  • Set an example for users by following LTS rules and regulations;
  • Interact respectfully with supervisors and co-workers;
  • Report to work punctually;
  • Inform supervisor of planned absences and when ill let supervisor know as soon as possible;
  • Be committed to quality work and high productivity;
  • Follow the guidelines and expectations set by the hiring department;
  • Dress appropriately for a place of business;
  • Use LTS workstations for assigned tasks only.
  • May have to lift and/or move boxes, book trucks; etc.
    Individual jobs may have additional specific expectations.
    Headsets are generally not allowed while on duty.

Each student assistant's job performance is reviewed annually, based on the above expectations. At the end of each academic year your supervisor will notify the LTS Administrative Office if you are eligible for re-hire based on your performance.
