Research and Instructional Services

Margarita Corral
Data Analysis Specialist

I support teaching and research in quantitative and qualitative methods at Brandeis. I lead workshops on Atlas.ti, Excel, R, Qualtrics, SPSS, and Stata. I hold a Ph.D. in Political Science from Vanderbilt University.

Patricia Flanagan
Associate University Librarian for Research and Instructional Services

I lead the group of librarians who support teaching and research. Academic Outreach Librarians work as liaisons to specific academic departments and programs. Librarians are also instructors who work with students in developing library research skills and competent information use as part of lifelong learning. Our group also engages in user experience and assessment activities. I love facilitating the great ideas and energy of these folks, as well as caring for the library as place, where learning happens outside of the classroom.

Jennifer Giordano
User Experience & Assessment Librarian

I spend most of my time assessing our library services, physical spaces, and virtual spaces to see if we're meeting the needs of our library users. To do this, I gather user feedback, evaluate usage statistics, conduct usability studies, or use qualitative research methods to understand how the library is being used. I'm also the liaison for Journalism, and help staff the Research Help desk. So if you have a comment, complaint, or suggestion about the library (or a Journalism-related research question), please email me!

Laura Hibbler
Manager of Library Instruction

I focus on the library's instruction and information literacy program, including the coordination of the library's instruction program for first year students. I'm also the Library Liaison for African & Afro-American Studies, American Studies, East Asian Studies, South Asian Studies, and History. Please feel free to contact me with any research or library-related questions--I am happy to help!

Melanie Radik
Academic Outreach Librarian for the Sciences

I am your librarian for most life and physical sciences, liaison to the Biology, Chemistry, Biochem, Math, Physics, and Psych departments; Bio Physics, Environmental Studies, Genetic Counseling, and Neuroscience programs; and any biomedical aspects of HSSP, Bioinformatics, and Health & Medical Informatics. Once upon a time I was a researcher in microbiology but found myself far too interested in science across the board to pick just one! I enjoy sci-fi/fantasy for casual reading and pursue some odd hobbies.

Aimee Slater
Academic Outreach Librarian for Government Information and the Social Sciences

I support Politics, Legal Studies, Health Policy, Social Policy researchers, as well as the IGS program while making Government Information fun and exciting for the Brandeis community.

Zoe Weinstein
Academic Outreach Librarian for the Humanities

I am the liaison to the English, Philosophy, and Romance Studies departments as well as the Comparative Literature and Culture, European Cultural Studies, Medieval and Renaissance Studies, and History of Ideas programs.

Alex Willett
Academic Outreach Librarian for GIS & the Social Sciences

As the geographic information systems (GIS) librarian, I provide GIS education and support to all disciplines on campus. I'm also the liaison to Computer Science; Education; Linguistics; Sexuality & Queer Studies; Women's, Gender, & Sexuality Studies; and multiple Rabb Graduate Professional School programs. Feel free to contact me if you have any GIS, research, or library-related questions!

Lisa Zeidenberg
Academic Outreach Librarian for Creative Arts

I work with the Fine Arts, Music, and Theater Arts departments to support teaching, learning, and research at Brandeis, teaching library instruction sessions, participating in our Research Help service, and helping to develop the library's creative arts collections. I'm also liaison to the Film, Television and Interactive Media program, and interim liaison to Asian Studies. I trained as an opera singer but these days I'm mostly singing lullabies to my 3-year old.
